Alpine School District joins the State of Utah, the Utah State Board of Education, and Governor Spencer Cox in recognizing April as Month of the Military Child.
Gov. Cox has issued the following declaration:
Whereas, April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, recognizing the vital role military children play and honoring the sacrifices and contributions they and their families make in service to our nation;
Whereas, the State of Utah proudly supports roughly 15,000 military children whose parents are dedicated members of the Armed Forces, stationed within our state.
Whereas, military children demonstrate exceptional resilience, adaptability and strength as they navigate the unique challenges of military life, including frequent relocations, school transitions and parental deployments, while continuing to contribute positively to their schools and communities;
Whereas, the Utah State Board of Education, in partnership with school liaison officers, military leaders, educators and community organizations, is committed to supporting the academic success and social-emotional well-being of military children by providing consistent, informed and responsive support throughout all phases of military life;
Whereas, Utah’s active participation in the Purple Star Schools program promotes stability and continuity in education for military-connected students, reinforcing the state’s
commitment to easing school transitions and fostering environments where military children can thrive;
Whereas, the State of Utah supports and collaborates with several federal, state and other partners to deliver services and initiatives, which all strive to strengthen the outcomes for our military children and families by addressing essential areas that promote and provide family readiness and well-being: childcare, education, healthcare, housing and spouse employment; and
Whereas, April 15 is recognized as “Purple Up Day,” a day for all citizens across Utah to wear purple in visible support of military children, symbolizing the unity and combined strength of all branches of our Armed Forces, as purple represents the combination of the various service branch colors;
Now, therefore, I, Spencer J. Cox, governor of the great state of Utah, do hereby declare April 2026 as Month of the Military Child in Utah.
Spencer J. Cox, Governor
