In March our school will be hosting our first Latin America Culture and Art Night. This evening will be filled with tasty food samples and cultural art and music. We are looking forward to sharing this evening with our entire community. The date is March 13th from 5:30-7:00. In preparation for this event we will be asking for help making some of our decorations. One of these decorations is tissue flowers. Attached to this email is a simple tutorial on how to make them. Thank you to everyone who helped last night for our annual Lantern festival activities. The entire event was a huge succes for all involved.  The turnout shows the strong support we receive for such a valuable part of our school and community!

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences next week. The conference this time is scheduled for this Thursday.  If there is a specific need your child’s teacher has set up a time.  If you have not been contacted and would like to visit with the teacher please email them and they will set up that time. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth. During the conference, we will discuss your child’s academic performance, behavior, and overall well-being in the classroom. To help you prepare, here are some questions you may consider asking your child’s teacher:

Behavior & Social Development
• How does my child interact with peers and teachers?
• Does my child follow classroom rules and routines?

Reading & Literacy
• What reading level is my child currently at?

Gracias a todos los que ayudaron anoche con nuestras actividades del festival anual de los faroles. Todo el evento fue un gran éxito para todos los involucrados. ¡La participación muestra el fuerte apoyo que recibimos para una parte tan valiosa de nuestra escuela y comunidad!

Estamos emocionados de invitarlo a nuestras próximas Conferencias de Padres y Maestros la próxima semana. La conferencia esta vez está programada para este jueves. Si hay una necesidad específica, el maestro de su hijo ha establecido un horario. Si no se ha comunicado con usted y le gustaría visitar al maestro, envíele un correo electrónico y ellos programarán ese horario. Estas reuniones brindan una valiosa oportunidad para analizar el progreso, las fortalezas y las áreas de crecimiento de su hijo. With the continued cold weather we ask that you talk to your kids about dressing for the weather.  We do have recess outside and a coat is much more comfortable than short sleeves.

Dress up for the cold weather- Next week the forecast is for colder weather than normal.  Please encourage your children to dress warmly so that they will be prepared for the cold as they walk to and from school and participate in recess.

Our Chinese New Year Celebration is on January 30th.  We need your help in making our decorative lanterns.  Attached is a simple video on creating the lanterns for the festival. During the next two weeks we are asking kids to make lanterns at home and bring them to school.  Lanterns will not be hung in the school that are larger than a single sheet of paper.  Refrain from making white or black lanterns as these colors are unlucky in the Chinese culture.
